Winter Camping Outfitting Program
Lure of the North Outfitters and the Headwaters Wilderness Program are working together to offer outfitted hot tent winter camping opportunities to groups seeking winter wilderness adventures, like outdoor education and scouting programs, recreational clubs, and more.
The outfitted hot tent winter camping program provides a great opportunity to experience the natural beauty and solitude of Ontario’s winter landscape within a warm and comfortable wilderness-living environment.

Guided Educational Experiences
The professional educators at Headwaters Wilderness Program offer guided, nature-centered educational experiences within the outfitted hot tent winter camping environment. Headwaters is a well-established and innovative organization focused on purposeful wilderness learning and personal development, enabling entwined relationships with nature and with community.
Basic Winter Camping Packages typically include:
• Snowtrekker canvas tent and portable wood stove
• Ground tarp and padded flooring
• Firewood, drinking water, and safety kit
• Trail toboggans and/or pulks
• Camp setup assistance
• Average outfitting cost of ~$70-$100/person/day (varies with group size, duration, and location)
• Average cost of additional $100/person/day for Headwaters guiding and educational programming
Educator Training includes (but not limited to):
• Basic winter camp setup
• Safe stove operation
• Stovetop cooking
• Orienteering
• Forest activities
