Lure of the North Expeditions
Kielyn & Dave Marrone lead a number of expeditions each winter that typically travel over a hundred kilometers by snowshoe and toboggan through the boreal forests and frozen waterways of Ontario and Quebec. Some of their recent expeditions include:
- Killarney Bound: Over the La Cloche mountains and through the coastal archipelago of northern Georgian Bay to the town of Killarney.
- Trans-Temagami: Across the vast Temagami wilderness, including big lakes, intimate creeks and steep portages.
- Missinaibi Headwaters: Up the Missinaibi River from Lake Superior to Lake Missinaibi and the storied Thunderhouse Falls.
- Pontax River: Down the Pontax River of northern Quebec over 125 km to the Arctic Ocean, negotiating rapids, waterfalls, and fierce arctic winds.
In 2022 Kielyn, Dave, and a group of hearty winter travellers embarked on their longest and most ambitious expedition yet, the Trans-Ontario Expedition. The "Big TOE" was a 11 week, 730 km trek from Lake Superior to the James Bay coast.
