Expedition Northeast

Lure of the North Outfitters is a proud sponsor of Justin Barbour (the "Newfoundland Explorer") and his most recent wilderness adventure, Expedition Northeast.

On July 6th 2023 Justin set out from near Puvirnituq, Quebec, along the northeastern shore of Hudson Bay, on a year-long, ~3,800 kilometer trek crossing Quebec, Labrador, and Newfoundland through some of the most wild and remote wilderness in the world.

UPDATE: In early November Justin and his canine travel companion Saku arrived in Schefferville, Quebec, having travelled across northern Quebec by foot and canoe. Justin is now awaiting the winter freeze-up and has swapped out his canoe for a pair of traditional Bearpaw snowshoes and trail toboggan to continue southeastward through Quebec and Labrador, hot tent camping with his Snowtrekker tent and wood stove. The journey ends next summer with a challenging, but familiar trek across his home province of Newfoundland.
