Copy of Expedition Northeast
Lure of the North Outfitters is a proud sponsor of Justin Barbour (the "Newfoundland Explorer") and his most recent wilderness adventure, Expedition Northeast.
On July 6th 2023 Justin set out from near Puvirnituq, Quebec, along the northeastern shore of Hudson Bay, on a year-long, ~3,800 kilometer trek crossing Quebec, Labrador, and Newfoundland through some of the most wild and remote wilderness in the world.
Justin is travelling by foot and canoe in the summer and fall, connecting waterways with his canine travel companion Saku. Once winter hits, Justin will swap out his canoe for a pair of traditional Bearpaw snowshoes and a HDPE trail toboggan to continue southeastward through Quebec and Labrador, hot tent camping with his Snowtrekker tent and wood stove. The journey ends next summer with a challenging, but familiar trek across his home province of Newfoundland.
